Penguin great Jeff Covington being honored Saturday at YSU game
Jeff Covington is back in the Mahoning Valley for the first time in more than 15 years.
YSU's all time leading scorer in men's basketball with 2,424 points and second with 1,381 career rebounds. He'll be honored during tomorrow's men's game against IU-Indy..
Covington played for legendary head coach Dom Rosselli, and became emotional talking about him.
"During those four years, there where times I need to talk to him because my dad wasn't in my life," said Covington holding back tears.
"He game me guidance, he gave me encouragement to help me develop into the person I am today."
Covington was recently inducted into the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame.
"As far as I'm concerned coming to Youngstown State was the best time of my life because of the support I had during that time."
