Ohio invests $92M through funds, including $900K for community and business support

The Ohio Department of Development is issuing over $92 million to boost economic development and nearly $900,000 to support communities and businesses.
Four communities will receive assistance through the All Ohio Future Fund, with two projects being funded through the Abandoned Gas Station Cleanup Grant, one community benefiting the Roadwork Development Grant and one business receiving funds from the Regional 166 Direct Loan Program.
On February 9, the Ohio Controlling Board approved over $92 million from the All Ohio Future Fund, a program created and established by the DeWine Administration to help communities prepare sites for economic development.
The Abandoned Gast Station Cleanup Grant provides funding to assist cleaning up former gas stations with documented petroleum releases. Local governments and land banks can apply if they own or have an agreement for an eligible property.
The Trumbull County Land Reutilization Corporations will receive $250,000 from that program for cleanup activities at a gas station located in the City of Hubbard, as well as receive project funding of $493.986.12 that will be used for cleanup and assessment activities, including free product delivery, potential soil excavation and groundwater cleanup.
The land is expected to be marketed or commercial redevelopment upon cleanup.
The Regional 166 Direct Loan Program promotes economic development, job creation and retention by providing low-interest loans to businesses with limited access to adequate capital from private funding.
Barefections, LLC will receive $149,300 from that program to assist in financing the purchase of a new JT PRO Flow Wrapper and installation of new equipment at Belmont Avenue, with the project costing $199,300 to create 24 new full-time-equivalent jobs and retaining 35 existing jobs at the site.
The Roadwork Development Grant provides funding to local jurisdictions with an economic development project to assist with eligible public roadwork improvements as well as aid employers in creating or preserving employment opportunities.
