Sections of Mill Creek bikeway closed for soil boring work in connection with toxic chemical spill

CANFIELD, Ohio - Portions of the Mill Creek MetroParks Bikeway will be closed on Monday as crews conduct soil boring in connection with a toxic chemical spill in Canfield last year.
According to a post on the MetroParks' Facebook page, the Bikeway will be closed between Route 224 and The Preserve spur trail, as well as the Canfield High School spur trail.
Drilling equipment will be onsite to conduct soil boring for future testing as part of remediation work following a toxic chemical spill on the Mill Creek Bike Trail near Saw Mill Creek back in July of 2024.
The Bikeway is expected to reopen between Monday evening or Tuesday morning.
