The Mahoning County Career & Technical Center (MCCTC) has secured grant funding to develop a Health and Wellness Center in partnership with Mercy Health and Cadence Care Network.

The new 13,000 square foot facility will be located on MCCTC's campus and is designed to enhance healthcare access, workforce development and educational opportunities for students and staff, as well as the Mahoning Valley as a whole.

The facility will be staffed with on-site healthcare professionals to ensure students and community members have direct access to primary and preventative care.

Additionally, Cadence Care Network will offer professional mental health counseling and behavioral health services to address the need for mental wellness support among students and families.

MCCTC Superintendent John Zehenbauer is quoted in a press release saying the funding for the facility represents a major investment in the health and future of students, staff and the community.

"By partnering with Mercy Health and Cadence Care Network, we are ensuring that both physical and mental health services are accessible, removing barriers that often prevent individuals from seeking care," Zehenbauer said.

No appointment is necessary at this facility. Patients can walk in and be seen by a physician on the same day with no appointment.

A groundbreaking ceremony will be held, Wednesday, April 30.
