WARREN, Ohio - One of eight women arrested in a human trafficking sting operation appeared in court for arraignment on Tuesday, July 1.

Fifty-seven-year-old Miock Dong Schaffer, also known as cookie, was arraigned on one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, nine counts of money laundering and one count of promoting prostitution.

Around two months ago, the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force in conjunction with the Organized Crime Investigations Commission indicted eight women working in various massage parlors and spas across Warren.

The indictment covers criminal actions spanning over five years, and alleges that the women were using both Tiger Spa and Sunny Spa in Warren as fronts for sex trafficking and money laundering.

Investigators were able to seize cash and financial documents when the delivered a search warrant to the spas in March 2023. This investigation was nicknamed "Operation Saving Daylight".

Schaffer's bond is set at $50,000 and the forfeiture of her passport and the case could be turned over to ICE.

Her next pre-trial date is on July 10.
