YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The public corruption trial involving the Cafaro family and several of Mahoning County's elected officials over the purchase of the Oakhill building won't start until June, but the Ohio Supreme Court is already in on the fight.
After an attempt at mediation failed, the state's high court will hear arguments from a Cafaro family attorney who claims that Prosecutor Paul Gains is controlling the investigation.
Attorney John McCaffrey accuses Gains of withholding evidence and working behind the scenes in an investigation that was supposed to be handled independently by two special prosecutors.
