CANFIELD, Ohio - Drivers are seeing fewer orange barrels around the U.S. Route 224 construction zone in Canfield.

The Ohio Department of Transportation has re-opened the State Route 11 northbound ramp to 224, and Raccoon Road just south of 224 at 5 p.m.

The ramp and road had been closed since June 15 to permit the widening of Raccoon south of 224.  It was originally scheduled to reopen earlier this week, but work was delayed by weather.

Construction work in the area shifts to the north side of 224 next week.

Beginning Thursday evening, July 9, Raccoon Road. just north of US 224 and 224 will have various daily lane restrictions until further notice for roadway widening.

224 over State Route 11 is reduced to one lane in each direction to replace and widen the bridge.

Route 11 under the Route 224 bridge will have various daily lane restrictions.

The work is part of a $6.5 million project to replace and widen the Route 224 bridge over State Route 11, widen Raccoon Rd. at 224 and widen the State Route 11 southbound ramp to US 224.

The entire project is scheduled to be completed by October.
