NEGLEY, Ohio - A Negley woman was killed after an airborne deer crashed through her windshield Thursday night.

Amy Stoneburner was riding in the passenger seat of her family's 2006 Pontiac Vibe traveling southbound on State Route 7 when a deer flew through the car's windshield.

According to the Trumbull County branch of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the deer was hit by a 1999 Toyota Camry traveling northbound on State Route 7 north of Webber Cole Road.

The way the deer was hit caused it to launch into the air and crash through the windshield of the Vibe that was traveling in the opposite direction.

Daniel Stoneburner, Amy's 37-year-old husband, was driving the vehicle, while their nine and 12-year-old daughters were in the backseat.

Trumbull County OSP said the main section of the deer hit 39-year-old Stoneburner, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Other portions of the deer hit her family, who were taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital to be treated.

Officials say an incident like this is considered an accident, similar to if a tree fell on someone.

Sixty-nine-year-old Jerome Hough, the person who hit the deer, will not face any repercussions due to the incident. Hough and his three passengers were not injured in the accident.

Officials said they think alcohol was not a factor.
