WASHINGTON - The Food and Drug Administration has announced that 145,254 half-gallon cartons of refrigerated Vanilla Almond Breeze almond milk is being recalled because the product may contain milk, an allergen not listed on the label.

HP Hood LLC is conducting the recall because people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The Almond milk, distributed in several states including Ohio and Pennsylvania, is safe to drink unless you have a milk allergy or sensitivity.

To date, there has been one report of an allergic reaction. Medical treatment or hospitalization was not required, according to the FDA.

The manufacturer says the units recalled represent less than 0.8% of half-gallon containers of refrigerated Vanilla Almond Breeze almond milk shipped by Hood in the last twelve months.

The recall only applies to the following product: refrigerated Vanilla Almond Breeze almond milk with a use-by date of September 2, 2018.
