State Troopers and Springfield Township Police are investigating a traffic accident that left a few homes without electricity early Tuesday.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says that downed power lines and damaged mailboxes were found along State Route 165 along the Mahoning-Columbiana County Line at around 6:30 AM.

Whatever vehicle caused the damage did not wait around for police to arrive, according to the patrol.

Power was knocked out to fewer than 20 homes in the area.

FirstEnergy estimates power will be back on by 9 AM.

Route 165 remains open to traffic.
