WARREN, Ohio - A father has been charged with child endangering after police say his young boy was found wandering in Warren.
According to Lt. Bryan Holmes, Stephen Limbeck, Junior, was charged with child endangering after the boy was found in the area of the 1000 block of Mahoning Avenue on Tuesday around 1:40 p.m.
A nurse at Community Skilled Healthcare spotted the child walking in the area of North and Freeman Street and called police.
He was later turned over to the children services board.
Police say the child's clothes were inside out, dirty, and his hands, as well as the area around his mouth, had dry mud stains.
According to Holmes, Limbeck told them the child is 2 years old. Trumbull County Children Services says the child is 4 years old.
As far as how the boy went missing, Holmes says Limbeck told police he has six children in the house and got up at 6 a.m. but fell back asleep until noon and did not realize the boy was missing.
Timothy Schaffner, the executive director at Trumbull County Children Services, says the child is now safe with them.
Limbeck pleaded not guilty in court Wednesday, and the judge ruled that Limbeck have no contact with the child unless allowed by the children services board.
His next hearing is set for July 2, and he was released on a personal recognizance bond.
