As the Medicare open enrollment period approaches, people are being encouraged to review their prescription drug and health insurance options as well as select a plan that fits their needs.

The Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program will be visiting Mahoning County to hold a Medicare Check-Up Day on Wednesday, November 6.

It will be held at the Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice at 1110 Fifth Avenue in Youngstown.

The event begins at 10 a.m., and counseling is by appointment.

Open Enrollment for the 2020 plan year starts October 15 and ends December 7.

Those who aren't able to make it to a Medicare Check-Up Day event can contact OSHIIP at 1-800-686-1578, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

You can also call Medicare at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227), 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
