AUSTINTOWN TWP., Ohio -  An Austintown man is in jail for allegedly assaulting and using a racial slur against an African American health care worker.

Township Police arrested 40-year-old Jason Kuzan late Wednesday at the Joseph Knight Tower on Westchester Drive.

It was at that same apartment building one week ago where Kuzan allegedly threw a drawer containing dishes and other items at a 19-year-old woman who said she was there providing health care service to Kuzan’s girlfriend.

Kuzan is also accused of yelling and swearing at the health care worker, calling her the “N” word.

Investigating officers say the victim had cuts on her forehead and nose.

A warrant was issued for Kuzan’s arrest and he was taken into custody as he showed up at Joseph Knight Tower on Wednesday.

Police booked Kuzan into the Mahoning County Jail on charges of felonious assault and ethnic intimidation.

Although court records show Kuzan has an Austintown address, a police report lists him as homeless.
