The Jackson Police Department has received three traffic enforcement grants totaling nearly $37,000.

The grants from the federal government along with funding from the state through the Ohio Traffic Safety Office are for high visibility traffic enforcement.

The first grant is the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program worth $13,915.14 which focuses on aggressive driving, speed and distracted driving, while he second grant is the Impaired Driving Enforcement Program worth $18,622.72 and focuses on getting impaired drivers off the road. The third grant is the Drugged Driving Enforcement Program worth $4,255.98 which focuses on drivers operating a vehicle impaired either by alcohol and or drugs.

Taillon said the high visibility patrols will take place throughout various times of the year in the township, which also include the national campaigns for not wearing seating belts, Click It or Ticket, and for the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, and will take place during holidays and special events, such as school functions such as homecoming and prom.
