An East Palestine woman was killed Friday afternoon in a one vehicle crash.

According to the release, the crash happened around 4:45 p.m. on State Route 170 just south of Jimtown Road in Unity Township.

State Troopers say 33-year-old Ashley Pallotta was driving northbound on SR 170 when her car went off the right side of the road and hit a guardrail. The vehicle then went into a nearby ravine.

The car hit a tree, the ravine and a culvert before coming to a stop.

Pallotta was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman where she was pronounced dead.

According to the release, Pallotta was not wearing her seat belt and Troopers believe drugs could be a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
