WARREN, Ohio -  A Warren man is accused of leaving a toddler alone in a car outside a grocery store while he went inside to buy food.

Police arrested 38-year-old Lorenzo Brown at the Mahoning Avenue Giant Eagle in Warren Saturday afternoon, charging him with one count of child endangering.

According to a police report, a customer told the officer working security at the store that she spotted a young child unattended in the back seat of a car.

Two other officers came to the store and found the car’s owner, Lorenzo Brown, at the store.

Brown told police that he was waiting for his order to be prepared at the hot foods section of the store.

Police estimate that the child, a two-year-old girl, had been left alone in the parking lot for 10 to 15 minutes.

Brown was booked into the Trumbull County jail and scheduled to appear for a hearing in Warren Municipal Court on Monday.

The child was turned over to a relative of her mother.
