YOUNGSTOWN - An indictment handed up by the Mahoning County Grand Jury accuses an 83-year-old man of murdering a fellow resident of a Youngstown nursing home.

Horace Landers is charged with murder and felonious assault in connection with the beating death of 89-year-old Watson Wilcox at the Windsor House Health Care Center in 2019.

According to an Amended Cause of Death report issued by the Mahoning County Coroner, Watson died of head injuries on August 6, 2019, thirteen days after he was found in a pool of blood on the floor of his bedroom at Windsor House.

Landers, who was sitting on a bed in the room, had blood on his hands and clothing, according to the report.

Both men who were Alzheimer’s patients could not tell authorities what happened.

Wilcox had been at the nursing home for ten years and was described as non-verbal.

Landers will be arraigned later before a judge in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
