Hundreds wake up in dark after Valley storms

Penn Power crews were still working early Wednesday to restore electricity to more than 1,100 Mercer County homes and businesses still in the dark after strong storms moved through the Valley causing some trees to come down.
The most extensive outages were reported in Findley Township where nearly one-third of Penn Power's 700 customers had no electricity.
FirstEnergy estimated that power could be out for some until 11 p.m. Wednesday.
The severe weather caused several trees in Greenville to come down along Shenango Street.
A homeowner's Honda Accord was crushed minutes after they go out of the vehicle.
After another tree fell on a man's home, he tells us he's been fighting for years to have the tree removed.
"WHEN I DID GET HOME, I FIND WHAT YOU SEE THERE. THE TREE INTO THE HOUSE DOWN THE SIDE OF THE HOUSE. KNOCKING TWO CHIMNEY'S I BELIEVE THERE ARE FIVE WINDOWS KNOCKED OUT, AND THE TREE IS IN FRONT OF THE NEIGHBORS PROPERTY," said Richard Fisher from Greenville.
Earlier this year Fisher called Greenville several times because he thought it was a safety hazard.
In Niles, it was a similar situation as several trees were also brought down on the south side near Fourth Street.
People living along Nebraska, Wyoming, and Dakota Avenue say they are still without power tonight after the afternoon storm.
Branches blocked off several streets within the neighborhood, with one of them even going through a man's roof into his bedroom.
No one was hurt in that situation.
