PITTSBURGH, Pa - A Youngstown woman was stopped by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers Monday after allegedly attempting to carry a gun onto her flight.

According to the release, the woman was stopped at a Pittsburgh International Airport security checkpoint and was found to have a 9mm handgun loaded with seven bullets.

TSA officers spotted the gun in the checkpoint X-ray machine and contacted Allegheny County Police. Officers confiscated the weapon and questioned the woman.

The release says the woman told officers that she forgot she had the loaded gun with her.

Travelers are not allowed to carry guns onto airplanes but can take them as checked baggage if properly packed and declared at the ticket counter.

This isn't the first time the TSA has found firearms at a security checkpoint at Pittsburgh International.

Reports say 21 guns were confiscated at the airport in 2020 and 16 have already been found in 2021.

The identity of the Youngstown woman has not been released.
