YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A Youngstown woman will be sentenced next month for fatally stabbing a man on the city's east side more than two years ago.

Just before she was to go on trial Monday on charges of murder and felonious assault,  Ashely Eiland, 33, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. The other charges were dropped.

Eiland was accused of fatally stabbing 36-year-old Eugene Jones Jr. in June 2019.

Police found Jones inside a Kendis Circle apartment on the bathroom floor.

Sentencing is scheduled for September 13.

Ashley Eiland was previously charged with endangering children in August 2018 after police discovered an unbearable odor at her home.

Police said there were three small children in the home at the time of the incident.

The residence was filled with garbage and police said there were dirty beds and dead flies in the residence.
