Buhl Day celebration returns to Hermitage on Labor Day
HERMITAGE, Pa. - A more than century-old tradition of food, fun, and entertainment continues in Hermitage on Labor Day.
First celebrated in 1915 to honor industrialist Frank H. Buhl and his wife, Julia, businesses and community organizations bring food vendors and entertainers together for the day-long celebration as summer comes to an end.
Buhl Day, revived 41 years ago, was canceled last year due to COVID-19 concerns. The event returns Monday to Buhl Farm Park, 715 Hazen Road.
Kicking off at 9 a.m. with a 5K run and a parade, the party includes fun for all ages with lots to see and do.
The parade will start at the Hermitage Towne Plaza and travel west on East State Street in Hermitage to Buhl Boulevard in Sharon. From there it will travel north into Buhl Park.
The following streets are scheduled to be closed at 9 a.m.: East State Street will be closed at Dutch Lane/Maple Drive to Buhl Boulevard.
Affected areas will include all side streets between these two points as well as all areas between Highland Road and the Shenango Valley Freeway.
There will be limited access to the Hermitage Towne Plaza.
Roads will reopen at approximately 11:30 a.m.
A shuttle service is available for senior citizens.
