The Boardman Police Department were made aware that catalytic converters were cut from three separate rental trucks in a UPS lot Tuesday evening.

A mechanic at the UPS location on Karago Avenue in Boardman told an officer that a driver noticed a Budget rental truck on the property sounded loud. The mechanic then decided to check the other rental trucks on the lot and discovered that two U-Haul trucks were also missing catalytic converters.

The mechanic told Boardman officers that the vehicles arrived on the lot between October 5 and 15 but had not been driven until Monday. The mechanic said the alleged theft could have taken place on any date between arrival and the issue's discovery.

Police were told UPS installed trail cameras near the lot on October 24 but management had not received any alerts from them. The mechanic observed that a section of the fence surrounding the lot where the vehicles sat had been cut and rolled back.

Boardman Police have filed a report and are investigating.

Each of the catalytic converters from the Budget and U-Haul vehicles have and estimated value of $700.
