Campbell man tells YPD he was shot by two men waiting outside of his home

Youngstown Police are investigating an incident involving a Campbell man who said he arrived at his Coitsville Road home when two men ordered him into his own vehicle and later shot him.
The man told police that he came home early in the morning on Tuesday and was approached by two black men, who he described to officers as "one short and one tall." Police say the men were both wearing face coverings and could not give a better description.
The two suspects then forced the man into the back of his 2013 Kia Optima, while one drove the vehicle and the other held the man at gunpoint in the rear seat, according to Youngstown Police.
Officers were told that the suspect with a gun told the man to give him all of his money. When the man said he had none, the suspect allegedly told him, "I guess you're going to die, then."
The man told police that he then grabbed the gun and struggled with the suspect pointing it at him. During the struggle, the man said the gun fired off and shot him in the right shoulder. After one discharge, the magazine fell out of the gun before the man was able to grab it from the suspect.
That is when the man said he was able to open the driver's side backseat door and jump from the vehicle. He told officers that the suspects fired several rounds at him before they sped away in his car.
The Youngstown Police officer investigating the situation was unavailable to comment on whether or not the vehicle is still missing.
After landing on the ground, the man realized he was near Wilson and Shehy Street in Youngstown. He ran from there to his brother's home which was nearby and was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital.
His cellphone was left behind in the vehicle, but he was able to hand over the suspect's gun to police.
A lieutenant from the City of Campbell Police Department who is familiar with the situation described the man's story as "suspicious."
The man's condition is unknown.
Police have not released information about the identity of any possible suspects.
