Warren's Cockeye BBQ & Creamery expanding into Youngstown
A Warren business that makes an award-winning ice cream is expanding into Youngstown.
Cockeye BBQ & Creamery is expected to officially announce on Tuesday that it is expanding into the Penguin City Brewery Taproom at 460 East Federal Street in Downtown Youngstown.
According to a media release, construction is underway with an expected opening date in November.
“We wanted to bring something fun and different to the table to our taproom and Downtown Youngstown,” said Penguin City Beer Co-owner Aspasia Lyras-Bernacki. “Cockeye BBQ & Creamery is a perfect fit, and the ice cream is icing on the cake.”
In 2020, Cockeye BBQ took the top honor from the National Ice Cream Retailers Association, winning a blue ribbon for its chocolate ice cream and a white ribbon for its vanilla flavor.
“We are super excited to choose Youngstown as our next location. Beer and BBQ go together like peas and carrots. The Mahoning Valley is our home, and we believe in Downtown Youngstown.” said Erik Hoover of Cockeye BBQ
The Warren, Ohio location on Parkman Road has been scooping out ice cream with an ever-changing variety of flavors like Honey-Lavender, Sweet Corn and Sorghum, and Buttermilk Pie.
