Local State Farm agent presents McDonald Local Schools with a $10,000 grant from State Farm.

Canfield agent and McDonald High School graduates Jason Reckard and his wife Kerry Reckard presented the grant on behalf of State Farm and their Good Neighbor Community Grants program.

State Farm originally teamed up with McDonald Local Schools Backpack Buddy program to provide food, coats backpacks and school supplies for children in need.

During the 2021-2022 school year, the program distributed over 9,000 meals, 15 winter coats, numerous hats, gloves and socks. The program also provided 63 students with backpacks filled with school supplies.

Backpack Buddy started through a weekly program to help students in need over the weekend and during school breaks. On average, 65 students a week take home a bag of food, containing 4 meals and 2 snacks.

"State Farm has been an amazing partner to us," said Pam Baker who started and manages the Backpack Buddy program. "We are so grateful for their continued support as this program has evolved, so we can continue to provide meals to students during this very difficult time."

"Giving back to communities where we live and work is a big part of who we are at State Farm," said Jason Reckard. "We are proud to partner with McDonald Local Schools and help provide students the items they need to succeed."

The Reckard's both graduated in 1985 and still reside in the Village.
