TRUMBULL COUNTY, OH - Mike Loychik came out victorious in Tuesday's primary election against challenger Randy Law.

Loychik had more than 4,600 votes compared to Law's 1,900.

Overall, Loychik grabbed more than 70 percent of the vote.

The new 65th District includes Trumbull and Ashtabula counties.

A Democrat did not file for the race, but Loychik will have competition come November from Independent candidate Jennifer Donnelly of Cortland.

Mike Loychik took office in 2020 after defeating Democrat Gil Blair for the Ohio House 63rd District.

Candidate background

Mike Loychik graduated from Champion High School and served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years. He holds a bachelor of applied science degree in environmental management and is pursuing a master's in occupational safety and health. According to his website, he is pro-gun, pro-agriculture and pro-labor. He has served as an Ohio State Representative since 2020.

Randy Law is a former state representative for Ohio's 64th district, holding the position between 2005 and 2006. He has also served as Republican State Committeeman for the 32nd District and Trumbull County Republican Chairman. Law's website lists him as pro-family and pro-life, a supporter of small business and a 2nd Amendment advocate.
