Covelli Enterprises gives thousands to Toys for Tots
WARREN, Ohio - Local U.S. Marine Corps and Warren-based Covelli Enterprises congregated at Panera Bread on Elm Road in Warren Tuesday morning to celebrate the donation of $1000 worth of toys and a $15,000 check made for the Vienna Toys for Tots chapter.
Covelli's annual support for the program surpasses $615,000. Sam Covelli owner and operator of Covelli Enterprises says the company is happily dedicated to helping kids in need every year.
"This has been a cause we've supported for nearly four decades and its because we are committed to taking care of people in our communities, especially children, especially during the holiday season," Covelli said.
Established in 1947, the premier action program for the Marine Corps provides signs of hope to economically disadvantaged children. The military group distributes 18 million toys nationwide annually.
For local marines, they use the donations to buy toys for kids in Mahoning and Trumbull County annually.
U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Cesar Mareno, says they have raised $47,000 this year but more donations are encouraged.
"Our goal is to make as much money as possible. When it comes to donations, whether it be monetary or toy donations, the more we get, the merrier," Mariano said.
