Community Action Agency offers vouchers to East Palestine derailment victims

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio - The Community Action Agency of Columbiana County has announced that it is distributing $25 vouchers to those from households affected by the train derailment in East Palestine.
The vouchers can be redeemed at the Columbiana, Lisbon and Rogers Save A Lot stores in the county, according to Thomas Andrews, CAACC’s CEO.
Vouchers can be picked up the Community Action Agency’s Community Services office located at 7860 Lincole Place, Lisbon, or those affected may call (330) 424-4013 to have a voucher mailed to them.
“Photo identification with address will be needed to redeem the voucher,” according to Marti Grimm, CAACC’s Community Services Director. Vouchers are not transferrable and will not be replaced if lost or stolen.
Officials said the vouchers can be used to purchase items such food, cleaning supplies, pet food and personal hygiene items.
As another option to displaced East Palestine residents, the Community Action Healthier Community Pantry, located at 7860 Lincole Place (lower level) also is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, according to Grimm. Call 330-424-4013 for more information about the pantry.
Officials noted vouchers are limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
“We are using Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) funding to provide the vouchers in response to the need to assist during this emergency,” according to Grimm.
