First Responders 'rescue' nuns stranded on Route 11

COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio - Some Catholic nuns are expressing their gratitude to some first responders who came to their rescue when they became stranded in Columbiana County.
According to a Facebook message posted by the Franciscan Sisters of Penance of the Sorrowful Mother, based near Steubenville, Mother Della Marie, as well as Sisters Monica, Mary Rose, Elizabeth, and Miriam were traveling along Route 11 when steam began pouring from the hood of their car.
Someone who thought the car may be on fire called 9-1-1, bringing a response from a tow truck, two police officers, and five firefighters from the Glenmoor Volunteer Fire Department.
After a fire truck took the sisters to a safer location, one of the nuns told firefighters that they had a ride coming and said that their rescuers could return to their families.
The response from the First Responders? “Negative. We will stay with you until you get picked up. You are our family now".
The sisters said the firefighters were kind enough to chat with them as they waited for their ride home.
“They were all so kind to us and chatted with us as we waited. We were so blessed by these good men who helped us out in our hour of need! Thank you!” said the sisters in their post.
The Glenmoor VFD also commented on the call, writing on Facebook; “Nun of us could have asked for a better outcome."
