Catholic Telecommunications Network of Youngstown president recognized at Catholic Media Conference

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown has announced on Friday that Rev. James Korda has been awarded the prestigious Gabriel Award for Personal and Lifetime Achievement.
Father Korda is the retired president of the Catholic Telecommunications Network of Youngstown (CTNY). He was presented with the award at the 2023 Catholic Media Conference in Baltimore in recognition of his pioneering career in radio and television ministry.
Korda retired in July of 2022 as an active priest of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown and as president of CTNY after serving for three decades in roles such as producer, director, host, content creator and media executive.
His career dates back to the 1950s when he built upon Catholic radio and television initiatives in the Diocese of Youngstown including the establishment of CTNY and the Ecumenical Television Channel (ETC) in the 80s.
Throughout his 30-year career, Father Korda served as CTNY's pastoral director, or president for 20 of those years, as well as president of the then Ecumenical Telecommunications Coalition of Northeast Ohio.
Father Korda continues to serve as the host of the award-winning radio program, Wineskins.
