21 News has now learned exactly how many workers have been impacted by the announcement of the closure of a FedEx facility on Salt Springs Road in Youngstown.

According to a letter to the Ohio Department of Jobs & Family Services issued in accordance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, a total of 79 workers are impacted by this shutdown.

These include 73 couriers, two service agents, one senior manager and three operations managers. The letter states that none of these employees are part of a union and no bumping rights exist for these positions.

According to the letter, the facility is slated to close on November 3, 2023. Some employees who worked for this facility will still be employed by FedEx, but will transition over to the facility on Bailey Court in North Jackson or the facility on South Hermitage Road in Hermitage.

According to a statement released to 21 News from FedEx on Tuesday, August 8, the decision to shut down the Youngstown facility wasn't made lightly and was the result of "much thought and consideration" for the needs of the company.
