Warrant issued for suspect in hit skip crash near Eastwood Mall

Charges have been filed and a warrant has been issued for the suspect in a hit skip crash that occurred in Niles near the Eastwood Mall Complex in late September.
According to Niles Police, two felony warrants have been issued for James Mason, who turns 37 years old on Wednesday, October 11. The warrants include charges of failure to stop after an injury accident and tampering with evidence.
The charges stem from an accident that occurred near the Eastwood Mall Complex the morning of Friday, September 29 just before 5:00 a.m. Police say a "severely injured" male was laying in a center turn lane with vehicle debris surrounding him.
Police have not located Mason at this time, but describe him as a Black male standing at 6'1" tall and weighing 215 pounds. Police have received word that he may be fleeing to Texas where he has family.
