The Campbell City School District has its emergency levy renewal back on the ballot in March.

The renewal is for emergency operating requirements in the sum of $989,711 at 9.31 mills for 10 years, according to the Mahoning County Board of Elections. This is a decrease from it's last renewal which was set at 16.3 mills, according to the district.

Superintendent Matthew Bowen says, "the district has not requested new tax revenues since the schools were built more than 20 years ago and has no plans to do so. The 20-year bond from the early 2000s has been satisfied, and local taxpayers are no longer repaying the bonds."

In addition, Bowen says recent construction projects were funded by public and private partnerships and through competitive grants secured; all recent capital improvement projects have been achieved with no burden to taxpayers.

According to the district, 'emergency operating requirements' includes elementary and middle school salary accounts, as they are determined to be emergency funding.

Bowen says, "the district is proud to receive awards and recognition for its ability to finance and manage operations."
