Youngstown-based company Steelite sues Delaware company over its Youngstown product line

Steelite is seeking both a court order requiring Delware-based company RAK to stop selling certain products, and monetary damages due to violations of the Lanham Act and Ohio's Deceptive Trade Practices Act, as well as RAK's unfair competition in violation of common law.
Steelite alleges in the suit that RAK launched it's "Youngstown" product line in an attempt to cause confusion, in regards to Steelite's own produce line.
RAK introduced and advertised its "Youngstown" brand and products only after Steelite had spent years generating substantial publicity for Youngstown within the tableware industry. Steelite first opened a showroom in Youngstown, before relocating its global headquarters to the city.
Steelite says that RAK is trying to trade on Steelite's longstanding and hard-earned goodwill by trying to create confusion about the origin about RAK's Youngstown-branded products.
The Youngstown-based company says that it continues to suffer irreparable hard to its reputation and business relationships.
In addition to monetary damages in excess of $750,000 dollars, Steelite is trying to bar RAK from using "Youngstown"-branded products. Steelite says that this is necessary to stop RAK from further damaging Steelite's reputation, goodwill, and market share.
RAK is located in Imperial, PA and does not manufacture any of its tableware in Youngstown. It also does not have any offices. employees, or a showroom in Youngstown.
Alongside the launch of the "Youngstown" product line, RAK also undertook a marketing campaign that was seen by Steelite's customers.
The suit was filed March 7, 2024. Steelite has requested a Jury trial.
