The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is inviting the public to view an online plans display for a project to repair a bridge in Mercer County.

PennDOT is planning a project to repair the bridge that carries Blacktown Road (Route 2006) over I-79 in Springfield Township between the intersection with Route 258 and the intersection with Route 208.

The current bridge was built in 1963 and is classified in poor condition. About 700 vehicles use the bridge per day on average.

The project will consist of repairs to the existing concrete deck and the placement of a new concrete surface, as well as repairs to concrete beams, piers and abutments, paving on each side of the road and an updated guardrail.

Work on this project is expected to begin in the 2025 construction season. During this time, a 5.7-mile detour will be in place for about two to three months utilizing Routes 208 and 258.

An online comment form on the public plans display will be open until January 20 for drivers to give feedback on the project. You can access the form by clicking here.

If you're having trouble accessing the form, you can also email project manager Daniel Staub at [email protected] or call 814-678-2900.
