Salem man found guilty of threatening to kill EMTs, sentenced to jail

A Salem man has been found guilty of threatening to kill EMTs and has learned his fate.
During a Monday morning pretrial hearing, 54-year-old William Hively pled no contest to charges of aggravated menacing and disorderly conduct. He was found guilty of these charges.
According to court documents, Hively was sentenced to 90 days in jail. He is ordered to report to jail on April 25. He will also have to do 40 hours of community service.
Hively's charges stem from an incident that happened back in July of 2024 when police said Hively threatened to kill EMTs who were performing life-saving measures on 56-year-old Melanie Lamb, who is believed to have died of drowning.
Police said Hively was intoxicated and continued to threaten the EMTs even after repeated orders from police.
