COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio is investing nearly $2 million in projects to add sidewalks in Poland and Liberty Townships.

Funding from Ohio’s Highway Safety Improvement Program includes $1,050,000 in 2028 to fill in sidewalk gaps along State Route 193 in Liberty.

In Mahoning County, Poland Township will receive $935,000 in 2028 to add sidewalks along State Route 170.

The Ohio Department of Transportation announced statewide funding aimed at improving safety for drivers and pedestrians.

Last year, 125 pedestrians died in crashes in Ohio. So far this year, 50 pedestrians have died.
