It's no April Fool's joke, as of today the speed limit on the Ohio Turnpike is 70 miles per hour.

The latest change gives drivers an extra 5 mph, but we found for many drivers it won't make much of a difference, including most truckers.

The Ohio Turnpike Commission raised the speed limit to attract more drivers onto the toll road. Drivers say they noticed the new limit signs, but don't think it's any big deal.

Even though you can now go 70 legally, the Ohio State Highway Patrol wants motorists to know that they should not push the limit because troopers will be watching. "We don't want the motoring public to have the impression that you can exceed 70 mph. You can't go five mph more or six, seven, eight or nine and not expect to be stopped by state trooper," said Ohio State Trooper Monte Morgan.

And even though the new limit applies to cars and trucks, it won't affect most commercial drivers because their company's restrict their engine speeds to save money. "I'm a company driver and my truck is governed at 67 mph, a lot of trucks out here are governed at 62 and it's for fuel consumption," said Stephen Robert, a truck driver from Georgia.

Fuel consumption will be a factor for all drivers, because a sustained speed of 70 will use more gas.
