WASHINGTON, DC - The battle by Delphi salaried retirees to restore their pensions moved to our nation's capital.

A Congressional hearing began Wednesday on the after-effects of the government's bailout of the auto industry.

Among those testifying was Bruce Gump of Howland.  Gump is Vice Chairman of the Delphi Salaried Retiree Association.

Congressman Mike Kelly cited his experience with the bailout when his car dealership was nearly forced to shut down.

"I do wonder the direction of the country when we place our faith in our future in the hands of those who have never done it.  Who have never walked in our shoes.  Who've never done the things we have done.  But who do have the ability to open a laptop and tell you that you are no longer in business. That's not the American way," Kelly said.

Delphi salaried retirees argue that while their pensions were cut, retired union members were allowed to keep their benefits.
