YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The start of the fall semester at Youngstown State University is on Wednesday and student leaders gathered on campus on Tuesday for a hazing prevention and education workshop.

Hazing expert and Slippery Rock University Professor Brian Crow says hazing comes in many forms and is a serious issue on many college campuses.

"It really doesn't discriminate and often times we see kind of a mixed message. Professional athletes, like right now in NFL training camp, there is hazing going on. It is kind of approved in a way on ESPN, etc. And students see that and get a mixed message," Crow said.

Crow says there are many positive, non-degrading activities schools can implement to cut down on hazing.
