TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - The new mayor of Toledo has been officially sworn into office following the death of the city's former mayor.
Paula Hicks-Hudson took the oath of office Tuesday afternoon in front city officials and employees.
The former Toledo council president became mayor after the death D. Michael Collins just over a week ago.
Collins was just entering his second year as mayor of the state's fourth-largest city when he suffered cardiac arrest while driving in a snowstorm.
He died five days later.
Hicks-Hudson grew up in Hamilton in southwestern Ohio and once worked at Central State University in Wilberforce.
