CANFIELD, Ohio - Canfield police are considering charges after being led on a 100 mile per hour motorcycle chase early Monday morning.

Police were first called about three motorcycles driving through the center of town without lights or valid license plates.

The riders, two male and one female, were located by officers and deputies at a Route 224 Sheetz gas station.

As the suspects were being questioned, police say one of the males, a 17-year-old, started up his bike and drove off westward onto 224.

Police began a high speed chase, but say they broke it off when the speeding cycle accelerated and pulled too far ahead of cruisers.

Officers say the motorcycle was driving well in excess of 100mph and may have been travelling as fast as 120mph.

The bike's license plates were found to be registered to a house on Palmyra Road, where it was last seen.

Police say that charges of fleeing and eluding, reckless operation, and other traffic violations are pending.

Officers then returned to the gas station where the other two suspects were being held.

Neither of their two bikes, police say, had valid plates or were registered in any state.  Both motorcycles were impounded.

According to the police report, the remaining male suspect originally gave questioners a false name and date of birth.

Officers identified him to be 23-year-old James Mercer of Columbiana.  He was cited for fictitious plates, falsification, driving under suspension, and having no motorcycle endorsement.

Police say the female suspect was found to be 19-year-old Jessica Lynn Jacobs of North Jackson.  She was also cited with fictitious plates and having no motorcycle endorsement.

Both were released and given court summonses.  They are due in Canfield Court on Friday at 9:00am.
