YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A federal grand jury has indicted a convicted sex offender who was arrested in Mahoning County
Sixty-two-year-old Scott Charles Lawrence is charged with failing to report his current address after crossing state lines.
Police in Jackson Township arrested Lawrence in July after the Mahoning County Grand Jury had already indicted him for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
In 1997, a U.S. District Court Judge in Akron sentenced Lawrence for a conviction on four counts of coercion or enticement of a minor male and interstate transportation of a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity.
The judge ordered that Lawrence be placed on three years’ probation following the completion of his 22-year sentence and said that he is not allowed to reside with children under the age of 16.
In January, shortly before his release from prison, a federal judge ordered Lawrence to comply with requirements of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
According to Bureau of Prison and court records, Lawrence was released from federal custody in February.
Until his arrest, the last known address for Lawrence was a Market Street motel in Boardman.
