HERMITAGE, Pa. - The two girls who survived February's fatal crash on I-80 in Mercer County are continuing to recover, one home with family and the other still in the hospital.

Monday night, the Hermitage community came together to raise money for their families and the families of 16-year-old Alexis Myers and 15-year-old Danielle Nelson, who both passed away in the crash.

The fundraiser took place at Toss'd Italian Bar and Grill as a way to continue supporting four families tragically affected by the accident.

In addition to the money going to the four families, Cottage Garden Designs in Hermitage is donating four trees to be placed at Hickory High school where they attended.

The trees will extend from the tennis court to the track because the girls were involved in those sports.

"I think just here it just shows you this is a close-knit community and they've really come together to help these families," said Summer Wise, co-owner of Toss'd.

The amount raised at the pizza, pasta and salad buffet totaled $2,200.
