A vacant home destroyed early Saturday morning on Youngstown's south side is being investigated as suspicious.

Flames broke out at the home on West Marion Avenue just before 4:30 a.m., fully engulfing the home before it eventually collapsed.

The fire was so intense the home next door also sustained damage.

A battalion chief said the home had no utilities connected to it, so that is why it was deemed suspicious.

The fire has not officially been ruled an arson.
