Cars stuck in Youngstown floodwaters
YOUNGSTOWN - Rescue crews were called to Poland Avenue in Youngstown Monday after multiple drivers found themselves stuck in floodwaters.
Waters began to rise near the wastewater treatment plant around 225 Poland Avenue.
No one was hurt after the Youngstown Fire Department rescued the drivers of three cars around 1:45 p.m.
First responders pulled the vehicles out of the water with their equipment.
Fire Captain Perry Harrison urges drivers to take caution during flash flooding.
"PEOPLE JUST TRYING TO COME DOWN THE STREET. IT WAS TOO MUCH WATER TO GET THEIR CAR THROUGH. DON'T TRY TO DRIVE THROUGH HIGH WATER. TURN AROUND YOUR CAR IS GOING TO SHUT OFF ON YOU, AND YOU'RE GOING TO BE STRANDED."
Harrison said once the cars dry out, they should be able to start again.
The waters have since receded later Monday evening.
