$16.5 million in CARES Act funding allocated for Mercer County schools

More than $16.55 million in funding to Mercer County school districts will ensure area students continue learning during the pandemic, state Rep. Mark Longietti, D-Mercer, announced Friday.

“School districts face tough challenges under any circumstances, but as a result of the pandemic, districts, officials and educators have been confronted by a slew of new logistical and funding issues. The grants announced today are going to allow districts to allocate resources where they are most needed to keep students safe and engaged, and it will allow officials to do comprehensive planning needed for the year ahead."
Longietti said districts will be able to apply for the following amounts:
- Farrell Area School District – $3.7 million.
- Greenville Area School District – $2.1 million.
- Hermitage School District – $1.6 million.
