If you would recall two weeks ago, we spoke with Trumbull County Commissioners about plans for a mass vaccination clinic in the county.

Prosecutor Dennis Watkin's opinion saying they needed to conduct a bidding process for the construction, immediately placed the plans on hold. Now, Commissioners are saying the mass clinic may not even be necessary.

"If it were a couple of months ago, I would've said absolutely," said Trumbull County Commissioner Mauro Cantalamessa. "But right now at this stage with so many public and private entities getting out there and getting as many shots in arms as they possibly can, it probably wouldn't be the wisest way to spend those dollars," he said.

Commissioner Niki Frenchko tells 21 News she's been saying this for a while and that she thinks the majority of the population will be vaccinated by the end of the summer.

Meanwhile, Health Commissioner Frank Migliozzi says the pop up clinics are doing well and are efficient enough to serve the county.

Trumbull County started with 43,120 first doses of the vaccine distributed and 24,206 second doses completed.

That means that 21% of people in the county have received a vaccine while 12% have completed their second doses.

"We're gonna continue with the pop up clinics," said Cantalamessa. "We're in different communities all the time, the health department is, and we're gonna continue to utilize our facility out at the fairgrounds," he said.

They vaccinate at the fairgrounds twice a week.
