New Middletown woman sentenced for abuse of baby's corpse

A New Middletown woman whose newborn baby was found under the sink of a trailer will spend three years in prison as part of a plea deal.
Savannah Marie Devlin, 33, made a plea of no contest in court Friday to one count of gross abuse of a corpse and one count of tampering with evidence.
Investigators say Devlin had delivered the baby at home in June of 2019 but after a search of her trailer, the body of the baby was found lifeless, concealed under a sink.
She testified that she did not know she was pregnant until she gave birth in that bathroom.
Doctors said Delvin was suffering from hemorrhagic shock after losing so much blood while giving birth, putting her in a delirious state.
Investigators say there was no evidence that the baby was alive at the time of birth, which is why she did not face any more serious charges.
Devlin says she hid the baby away as to not traumatize her other three children.
