Austintown mom accused of having child hide drugs from police

AUSTINTOWN TWP., Ohio - An Austintown woman is in jail, accused of having her 11-year-old son hide her drugs during a traffic stop.
Township Police pulled over a car on Mahoning Avenue Tuesday night for making an improper turn.
While interviewing the driver, 40-year-old Mary Liller, an officer grabbed a pack of cigarettes from the pocket of the woman’s 11-year-old son.
Police say they found a baggie of cocaine and three bindles of fentanyl tucked into the cigarette box.
The boy told the officer that his mother handed him the cigarettes as police were pulling her car over.
Liller was arrested and her son was turned over to the care of a relative.
Liller pleaded not guilty to charges of child endangering, drug abuse, and driving with a canceled license.
A trial in the matter has been scheduled for later this month.
